What Is a Reversible Grill?
A reversible grill, often made of cast iron, features a griddle on one side and ridged grill on the other.
Non-stick pans are generally safe for cooking when used properly. The key is to avoid overheating, as high temperatures can break down the non-stick coating, potentially releasing harmful substances. It’s advisable to cook on medium or low heat and use utensils that won’t scratch the surface.
Modern non-stick pans are often made with safer materials than older versions that contained PFOA, a potentially harmful chemical. Many brands now use PTFE or ceramic coatings, which are considered non-toxic when used according to manufacturers’ instructions.
Stainless steel pans are not inherently non-stick. However, they can acquire some non-stick properties when properly seasoned and used with a sufficient amount of cooking oil or butter.
To clean a non-stick pan, let it cool first, then wash it with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or harsh detergents, as these can damage the non-stick surface.
While some non-stick pans are marketed as dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended to extend the life of the non-stick coating. Dishwasher detergents and heat can degrade the coating over time.
For a burnt non-stick pan, soak it in warm, soapy water, then gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn stains, make a paste of baking soda and water, apply it to the affected area, and gently scrub after a few minutes.
To make a stainless steel pan more non-stick, heat it and then add some oil, swirled to coat the surface. Let the oil heat until it shimmers but doesn’t smoke. This creates a temporary non-stick layer.
It depends on the pan. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for the maximum safe oven temperature. Generally, non-stick pans with plastic handles or specific types of coatings should not be used in the oven.

The best brand of cookware can vary based on personal needs and preferences. Brands like All-Clad, Le Creuset, and Calphalon are often highly rated for their quality, durability, and range of products.

Cooking in a cast iron pan can be beneficial as it adds a small amount of iron to your food, which is good for health. It also allows for chemical-free non-stick cooking and even heat distribution.
